Falaknuma Palace is a famous high-end heritage hotel in Hyderabad. It is one of the most beautiful castles in India. Covering 32 acres, this house was part of Paigah Hyderabad State and later held to Mohammed Abeed, one of Hyderabad's Nizams. Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra, the prime minister of Hyderabad and the uncle and brother-in-law of Nizam VI, Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Bahadur, paid for this beautiful building. The castle is 2,000 feet above the city and used to be the home of the Nizams of Hyderabad. Because of how great and beautiful Falaknuma is, it takes you back to the time of Nizams and Begums.
For 32 acres, Sir Nawab Vikar-Ul Umra, a prince from the Paigah family, built the house. People from Hyderabad, India, used to be able to make their castles back in the day. Mehboob Ali Pasha, the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad, was especially interested in this beautiful piece of architecture. At that time, the Palace's owner, Sir Vikar, also his prime minister, had no choice but to give the Palace away as a gift.
It took ten years to finish building the house, which started in 1984. The cost of building Falaknuma Palace was about 4 million rupees. This lovely building was made by the British builder William Mard Marret, and Sir Vicar-Ul-Umra, the Prime Minister of the Hyderabad State, finally owned it. Mehboob Ali Pasha, the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad, took over the Palace in 1895. The Nizams of Hyderabad lived in Falaknuma until 1911. When the Nizam's royal guests and other important people came to stay, it turned into a hotel.
In 2000, Prince Nizam Mukkaram Jah Bahadur rented the Palace to the Taj Hotels so that they could fix it up and make it a high-class historic hotel in Hyderabad. Princess Esra Jah, who was married to the VII Nizam and was his first wife, oversaw the repair work. She also built herself a small house next to the old building.
The building of Falaknuma Palace began on March 3, 1884. There is Italian marble in the Mardana and Zenana parts of the house. There are 93,971 m of land in the Mardana part. The castle is shaped like a scorpion with two wings spread out north. In the middle is the main house. In the south are the Gol Bangla, the harem rooms, the Zenana Mahal, and the kitchen. The Nizams had royal tastes; you can see it in the building and decorations. The castle is a unique mix of Tudor and Italian styles. It has painted glass windows that let colorful light into the rooms. Inside the house is one of the biggest switchboards in India.
We have a vast ballroom here. One of the best parts of this building is the state greeting room, which has a decorated ceiling with gold reliefs and frescoes. The building's 22 beautiful halls and 60 rooms are very fancy and hold a fantastic collection of Nizami artifacts. The Palace's luxurious rooms are filled with statues, books, papers, rare paintings, and furniture. The jade collection in the castle is one of the most valuable and beautiful in the world.
